Nasarawa United fan stabs Plateau United player in the neck after 3-2 victory in Lafia
A football fan stabbed Plateau United forward, Vincent Temitope, in the neck on Sunday after their Nigeria Premier Football League match-day 33 defeat against Nasarawa United in Lafia. Nasarawa United won the game 3-2, and a video of Temitope being treated for a cut on his neck emerged. Temitope missed a penalty but also scored a goal during the match.

Rhairom Zamora, a radio personality with Jay FM in Jos, shared the video and claimed that the attack came from Nasarawa United fans.
Plateau United’s Director of Media Operations, Yaksat Maklek, confirmed the incident, stating that the attack was in response to Temitope’s performance on the field.
Temitope was taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Lafia for treatment and is now in stable condition.

Temitope, who joined Plateau United last year and was named in the Super Eagles B training squad for the upcoming African Nations Championship, has sparked outrage nationwide and highlighted the issue of fan violence in Nigerian football, particularly at NPFL venues.
The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a Nasarawa United supporter involved in the attack. The suspect’s name has not been disclosed, but they are in custody for further investigation, as confirmed by the spokesperson for the Nasarawa State Police Command, Rahman Nansel.
