The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Plateau State Command, has prevented another mass killing from taking place by promptly intercepting a man allegedly in possession of a firearm at a church premises in Bokkos Local Government Area.
The incident happened at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2025, when NSCDC agents acting on intelligence captured the suspect during a regular security patrol around a church compound, according to sources who spoke to security analyst Zagazola Makama.
The suspect’s identity remains undisclosed to the public, as preliminary investigations are still ongoing.
According to a source, “The suspect was found in possession of a gun and could not provide any satisfactory explanation or legal documentation for it. The swift action of our operatives helped prevent what could have escalated into a serious security breach,”

This is coming after the Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC) said on April 4 that more than 10 persons had been killed by suspected herdsmen in the area with the death toll later rising up to 52.
Recall that the Ruwi community in Bokkos LGA, Plateau state was also attacked by gunmen seven days prior to this one.

Reacting to the killings, the Plateau state Governor, Caleb Mutfwang stated bandits have taken over 64 communities in Plateau.
As of the time of report, correspondents are yet to receive a response from the NSCDC spokeswoman confirming the incident.
