Dapo Abiodun has ordered an immediate investigation into the tragic accident at the Ota toll gate that claimed six lives on Tuesday.

Reports indicate that the crash occurred around 9:32 a.m. and involved 10 victims. The accident included a white and green Mack truck with registration number EKY 913YH, a yellow Suzuki mini bus (SMK16YK), and a yellow TVS tricycle bearing plate number AAA 840QM.
In a statement by Salau H.O., Divisional TRACE Commander in Ota, the truck driver was said to have been speeding and driving recklessly before crashing into multiple vehicles, including the tricycle, and hitting pedestrians. The driver reportedly fled the scene, while the injured were taken to the State Hospital in Ota. The deceased were deposited at the State morgue in Ifo.

Reacting to the incident, Governor Dapo Abiodun condemned the reckless behavior of some truck drivers and directed that anyone found responsible after investigation should face the full weight of the law. He described the tragedy as painful and unacceptable, offering his condolences to the affected families and praying for strength and comfort for them.
The governor Dapo Abiodun also urged heightened vigilance and stricter traffic enforcement by the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps to prevent future occurrences along the busy corridor.
Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Lawal Adewale Wasiu, visited the accident scene shortly after the incident alongside key officials, where he received briefings from security operatives coordinating rescue and control efforts.
The chairman expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and reiterated the need for strict adherence to traffic regulations. He also cautioned against roadside trading and other risky activities that expose residents and commuters to avoidable danger, assuring that the council would collaborate closely with relevant agencies to strengthen safety compliance in the area.
