Nigerian lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has responded to a viral video featuring David Ibiyeomie, a clergyman from Port Harcourt and the leader of Salvation Ministries. In the video, Ibiyeomie threatens to arrest and detain anyone who reports negatively about him.

The clergyman accused certain bloggers of intentionally misrepresenting his messages for their own agendas. He stated that he would not tolerate any misrepresentation and promised to take strong action against anyone who

“crosses the line.”

Ibiyeomie emphasized that he would not be swayed by pleas for mercy, asserting that he would deal firmly with those who oppose him. He warned, “When I go after people, they often send others to plead for them. This is your final warning. Next time, there will be no warning. If you dare to challenge me, I know you and your family. I will take action against you.”

He continued, “People often question why I respond this way. Some support me, while others do not. But I have many supporters. I am warning those who oppose me: if I take action, don’t come back to say that a man of God is using the police to arrest people. I will arrest you and lock you up. No man of God will pray for you and help you succeed.”

Ibiyeomie expressed his disdain for negative news coverage, stating, “I don’t want you to report on me. I am already known worldwide, whether the news is good or bad. Don’t carry news from this church. Some of you in this church are part of the problem, twisting my words instead of listening to the message and receiving blessings.”

He concluded with a stern warning, “My approach is not to turn the other cheek. I will confront you.”

In response to Ibiyeomie’s remarks, Adeyanju pointed out that Jesus faced criticism without resorting to imprisonment, suggesting that Ibiyeomie has no right to threaten anyone with jail.
