A former Abia State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Don Ubani, has alleged that local government administrations in the state have been

hijacked.
Speaking on The Morning Brief, a programme on Channels Television, on Wednesday, Don Ubani claimed that funds meant for local governments do not reach the councils.
He made the remarks while discussing broader issues related to governance in Abia State.
“Nothing is happening in Abia State. The local governments have been hijacked, their funds don’t get to the council.

“That’s why as we speak now, the High Court in Okwa West LGA has been overgrown by weeds to the extent that workers in the court have threatened to get relocation to Aba.
“This is because the council has no money to clear the weeds in and around the court. This is the governor that know that constitutionally speaking, the positions of Permanent Secretary are political,” Don Ubani said.
