DSS Security operatives disclosed that the recovered weapons and ammunition were hidden inside a blue vehicle used by the suspects.
In a separate operation conducted days later, DSS operatives arrested another suspected member of the trafficking network, Alhaji Adamu, also known as Gado Banufe, in Yauri, Kebbi State. He is believed to be a major supplier of arms to criminal groups operating within the Kebbi axis.
Preliminary investigations reportedly showed that the five suspects acted as suppliers and couriers of weapons to the gunmen behind the November 21, 2025 attack on St. Mary’s Catholic School.
During the attack, dozens of armed men riding motorcycles reportedly invaded the Catholic primary and secondary school in the early hours of the day, abducting students and teachers at gunpoint.

Although around 50 pupils managed to escape during the incident, over 250 others were taken into the Kainji Lake National Park forest, where they remained in captivity for weeks.
The Federal Government and Niger State Government later confirmed the rescue and safe return of the victims on December 21, 2025, stating that all abducted pupils had been reunited with their families.
The recent arrests are expected to support ongoing efforts by security agencies to dismantle arms trafficking networks and prosecute those linked to the Papiri school abduction.
