Ebonyi Govt issues stern 3-month ultimatum for completion of all projects

The Ebonyi State Government has issued a three-month ultimatum to ministries overseeing ongoing projects across the state, warning that failure to complete them within the stipulated timeframe will attract sanctions.

Speaking to journalists after the State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Mr. Ikeuwa Omebeh, said the directive followed an extensive assessment of ongoing projects, aimed at fast-tracking development and enhancing service delivery.

According to him, ministries such as Works, Infrastructure, Environment, Commerce and Industry, Water Resources, Housing, and Special Duties have been directed to intensify efforts to ensure the timely completion of projects under their supervision.

Omebeh also revealed that the Council approved the appointment and inauguration of two members of the State Civil Service Commission, a Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, and a Secretary of the Rural Electrification Board.

He added that Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru urged the newly appointed officials to show commitment, diligence, and a strong sense of responsibility in carrying out their duties.

According to the Commissioner, the Governor also directed the Rural Electrification Board to prioritize electricity supply to rural communities as part of efforts to curb rural-urban migration and stimulate grassroots economic activities.

On civil service reforms, he noted that the newly inaugurated Civil Service Commission has been tasked with collaborating with relevant stakeholders to reposition the state civil service for improved productivity and efficient service delivery.
