Edo tragedy: multiple car crash leaves 6 injured

    At least six people were reportedly injured, while 20 others escaped unhurt, in a road accident that occurred on Tuesday evening in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

    According to reports gathered, the incident occurred along Murtala Muhammed Way, near Ikpoba Hill, Edo.

    A speeding truck heading toward Agbor Road reportedly lost control and crashed into five other vehicles, resulting in injuries.

    It was further learnt that one of the vehicles plunged into Ikpoba river as a result of the impact of the accident.

    The Edo State Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Cyril Mathew, confirmed the accident.

    Mathew attributed the accident to speed and loss of concentration by the truck driver.

    “The accident happened at Ikpoba slope before the tipper garage, it was serious but no one died in the accident.

    “It involved six vehicles including the truck. 26 persons were involved, 11 male adults and 15 female adults. Six people were injured including four male and two females. No one was killed,” he said.

    He said the injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment while the vehicles were taken away by men of the Esigie police station.
