EduBot Nigeria: A Bold Step for Mother-Tongue AI Education

On August 14, 2025, A+ Computer Training Technology Limited (A+ CTT) made waves in Nigeria’s education landscape with the unveiling of EduBot Nigeria, an AI-powered chatbot engineered to bring structured learning in indigenous languages right to the grassroots. Held at the MSME Hub at Hill Station Roundabout in Jos, the launch attracted dignitaries from the Federal and Plateau State Ministries of Education, community leaders, tech stakeholders, and media representatives.

This initiative goes beyond mere novelty—it represents a meaningful convergence of artificial intelligence, cultural preservation, and educational equity.

Bridging the Digital and Language Divide

EduBot Nigeria was developed through a collaboration between A+ CTT and Triangle Development Advisory (USA), accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). What makes this platform exceptional is its offline-first capability—ideal for Nigeria’s rural regions where consistent internet access remains a challenge. EduBot is purpose-built to reach women, youth, and out-of-school children with curriculum-aligned content delivered in familiar mother tongues.

Local custodians of language took an active role in translating and validating educational material, ensuring not just linguistic accuracy but cultural integrity as well. Currently, EduBot offers lessons in Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, and five Plateau State languages—Birom (Berom), Ngas, Mwaghavul, Tarok, and Gmai (Goemai).

Voices from the Launch: Mother-Tongue Empowerment

At the launch, Chief Sylvanus Koppe, Founder and CEO of A+ CTT, emphasised that education in native languages can demystify complex subjects like chemistry and physics, making them more relatable and digestible. He pointed out that countries such as China and India have reaped significant literacy and development gains through mother-tongue instruction.

Registrar Prof. Buba Audu lauded the successful prototyping stage and announced that the chatbot is now deployment-ready. He called for partnerships between government and private sector actors to scale EduBot across the nation.

    Towards Inclusion, Preservation, and Expansion

EduBot Nigeria dovetails neatly with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Nigeria’s National Digital Economy Policy, reinforcing efforts to modernise learning while preserving linguistic diversity. The plan is nothing short of ambitious: to extend language coverage to all 774 local government areas, bringing AI-mediated, culturally nuanced education to every corner of the country.

Supporting information from ITEdgeNews offers further context: EduBot Naija—also known as “Voices of Learning”—has backing from Georgia State University, led by Prof. Xinyu Fu, enhancing its academic rigour. In addition to mobile access, the platform includes innovative interfaces like USSD and solar-powered hubs to truly reach off-grid users.

During the live demonstration, attendees saw how EduBot handles interactive Q&A, personalised student profiles, and real-time translation—showcasing its readiness to support learners in multiple contexts, anytime and offline. Impressively, A+ CTT has already trained over 8,000 learners, granted 500 scholarships, and enabled more than 400 job placements through local and remote opportunities.
