Twenty individuals have been taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for various electoral violations related to the just concluded local government elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This was declared in a statement released in Abuja on Sunday by Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity.

According to Oyewale, the suspects were detained around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for offences ranging from obstruction of officials to vote buying and selling, totalling N17.2 million.
According to the statement, one of the supsects was arrested with a sum of N13.5m in a car parked beside a polling booth in Kwali Local Government Area.

He added, “Two of the suspects were arrested in Abaji; nine in Gwagwalada; four in Kuje; and the remaining four in Kwali.”

Oyewale noted that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the results of the election has now been collated announced, with the APC candidate emerging winner of the AMAC chairman seat and five others clinching five out of six other offices.
