The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed the nationwide deployment of officers and operational resources to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration across Nigeria.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the IGP extended Sallah greetings to Muslims nationwide and reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to protecting lives and property during the festive period.
Olatunji Disu instructed Commissioners of Police and tactical commanders in all state commands, including the Federal Capital Territory, to step up security presence and implement proactive policing strategies within their jurisdictions.
The statement noted that the security plan involves the deployment of tactical units, intelligence personnel, and regular officers to Eid prayer grounds, highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and other crowded public areas.

It also stated that the police will enhance visibility policing, carry out coordinated patrols and surveillance operations, and conduct intelligence-driven stop-and-search exercises to prevent crime and respond swiftly to any security threats.
The IGP called on citizens to stay alert and support security agencies by providing timely and useful information, emphasizing that public cooperation is key to ensuring safety during the celebrations.
He further encouraged Nigerians to report any suspicious individuals, objects, or activities around gathering points, stressing that credible intelligence could help avert possible security breaches.
The police reassured the public of adequate nationwide security coverage and reaffirmed their readiness to maintain law and order throughout the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.
