As reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the next big upgrade to the iPhone line would see the addition of a brand-new model called the iPhone 17 Air.

“It’s a very obvious way to build the range-the Air label has worked so well for Apple’s thinner MacBooks and iPads (I now currently type these words on my MacBook Air), and could be even more attractive than the iPhone Plus or mini ;” Gurman writes.

Gurman continues that it would ship with Apple’s initial-ever self-made modem, which it is anticipated to debut in the new iPhone SE in spring. The phone is also supposed to be Apple’s thinnest smartphone yet- two millimeters thinner than the current iPhones.

So it would be a movement towards the foldable iPhone and iPad that are currently rumored to be developed by the company for 2026 or later.

Other Apple products are lined up by Gurman to be launched in 2025, among them a smart home hub. Not in the list: A new version of the company’s mixed reality headset, the Vision Pro.
