American superstar singer and billionaire wife, Beyonce, has finally won the legal battle to trademark her daughter’s name, Blue Ivy.
This was officially announced by the Trademark Official Gazette. The legal battle has been going on for 12 years since the birth of her daughter.
This means Beyonce can now trademark her daughter’s name and prevent other people from using it or making a profit from her name. A feat she has been trying to achieve since 2012.
However, Veronica Morales, a wedding event planner, had opposed the filing, claiming she had used “Blue Ivy Events” for her business since 2009. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office ruled in 2020 that the event company’s name and Blue Ivy’s name were distinct, dismissing Morales’ objections.
In 2023, the singer renewed her trademark application but encountered another hurdle when a Wisconsin boutique claimed the “Blue Ivy” logo. After the boutique failed to oppose the filing, Beyoncé’s legal team proceeded, marking the final stages of her successful claim.
