Kanye Blocked from Super Bowl – His Side of Story
A fresh bout of controversy was born when Kanye West reignited his long-standing feud with Taylor Swift by claiming she was partly responsible for his ‘never’ getting to perform in the Super Bowl halftime show.
Kanye when on to say: “I never was allowed to do the Super Bowl because of three moments. George Bush don’t care about Black people. The Taylor Swift movement moment. Wearing a MAGA hat.”
West also mentioned the scraps dating back to the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when he interrupted her acceptance speech to say Beyoncé deserved the award in the first place.
It became worse in 2016, after Kanye went that much further and took a swipe at Swift in his song ‘Famous,’ which she has since said was a clear use of her name without her consent.
The rapper also brought up his live repudiation of George W. Bush in 2005, in the middle of a telethon for Hurricane Katrina victims, and the follow-up events where he donned a MAGA hat endorsing Trump, in what he sees as prime indications of incidents that put him on the blacklist from the NFL’s mega event.
Simultaneously in the missing post, he dedicated the exclusion to being “ahead of my time.”
He even made reference to the several allegations of antisemitism that were later laid against him and insinuated that his acts before those allegations – his political views – were enough for being barred from the Super Bowl.
West’s attempt to somehow insert Taylor Swift into the narrative has been criticized; many felt he was deflecting blame for his own actions and controversies. While Swift hasn’t yet addressed the fresh attack, she is known for dodging public drama, and her fans expect her to continue to do so.
