Popular Nollywood actress and influencer Monalisa Stephen has passed away due to several health complications.
In a sad death announcement made by the Nollywood industry about one of its own, Monalisa Stephen, a popular actress and a strong advocate of body positivity.
According to reports, Monalisa died on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Lagos after suffering several complications from low blood sugar and internal bleeding.
Her death was announced on Wednesday by Seun Oloketuyi, the chief executive officer of Best of Nollywood (BON). Calls were also placed to her immediate younger sister, who also confirmed Monalisa’s death.
Oloketuyi posted to his official Instagram handle, “Brand influencer Monalisa Ayobami Stephen is dead.
“She died yesterday in Lagos after losing the fight against low sugar and internal bleeding. Her immediate younger sister confirmed the death of this hardworking and beautiful soul.”
Aside from her famous acting roles in the Nollywood industry, Monalisa Stephen was equally known for being a strong and vocal advocate of body positivity, mental health, and self-love.
She always raised up lots of engagements via conversations about her candid opinions on societal beauty standards, weight stigma, and online bullying.
