Nigerian rapper Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has called on the Lagos State Police Command to step up its investigation into the death of his former signee, singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel on Tuesday, Naira Marley shared his account of events regarding the allegations linking him to Mohbad’s death.
While firmly asserting his innocence, he urged the police to re-arrest himself, his associate Samson Balogun, also known as Samlarry, and others accused in the case, to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation.
Naira Marley demanded that a trustworthy officer be put in charge of the case this time.
“I came back to Nigeria to support the police because I can see fingers pointing our ways. So I had to come back so that they can actually have nothing to do with it and check whoever so that he can get justice,” Naira Marley said.
“I was in Panti for two months. After I came out from Panti, I was fighting for my passport, they held my passport. I was like, it’s okay to question me [over Mohbad’s death], but there’s no reason to detain me. I haven’t seen him for over a year. But it’s okay. There was a conspiracy and gang-up to keep me there. As you can see, the group chat got leaked, they even mentioned the name of the officer in charge of the case in Panti. They were also talking about judge.
“If you ask me, I will tell the Police to arrest everybody again. Put an officer we can trust in charge,” he said.
Naira Marley also revealed that he has agreed with Mohbad’s lawyer to give his royalties to whichever member of his family the court chooses to be in charge of his estate.
Recalls that Mohbad died under controversial circumstances on 12 September 2023. His former record label boss, Naira Marley, and Samlarry were fingered in his death.
Following the allegations, the duo were detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for two months in 2023 but were later released after meeting their bail conditions.
Mohbad’s childhood friend, Owodunni Ibrahim, aka Prime Boy, was also arrested in connection to his death but later granted bail.
In an interview with self-styled activist VeryDarkMan in July 2025, Prime Boy denied allegations that he fought with Mohbad or inflicted any injuries on him during their last outing (the D’General Bitters Ikorodu show) on 10 September 2023, before the singer’s death.
Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who administered the injection that allegedly led to Mohbad’s death, was also arrested.
Relying on the testimony of two independent pathologists who conducted separate autopsies, the Lagos State Coroner’s Court noted that the decomposed state of Mohbad’s body made it impossible to determine a definitive cause of death.
The Magistrate, C.A. Shotobi, stressed that “the death is not linked to any evidence of foul play, but to medical negligence.”
The court ordered the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, to prosecute the auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe.
