Human rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has condemned the growing trend of bribery being conducted in US dollars in Nigeria.

Speaking on Sunday during an interview on Politics Today, a programme aired on Channels Television, Femi Falana criticized the practice and called for decisive action to curb the dollarisation of the economy.
He emphasized that rejecting the Nigerian naira in financial transactions is a criminal offence and must not be tolerated.

“The president was announcing gifts to footballers in dollars, not naira. It has to stop. We must promote the naira, not the dollar.
“As a matter of fact, it is a criminal offence to reject the naira. We need to stop paying fees and buying properties in dollars,” he stated.
