The Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has verified that the debris from the Kwara explosion originates from the anti-ISIS attack in Sokoto State that was supported by the United States.
On Christmas night, the explosions caused damage to homes, businesses, and a hotel in areas of Offa close to the E-d prayer site. While investigations into possible ordinance-related explosions are ongoing, security personnel secured the area.

According to sources, at the request of Nigerian authorities, the United States declared military action against militants associated with ISIS in Sokoto, northwest Nigeria.

Idris revealed this in a statement released on Friday, December 26, 2025, as reported by The Punch.
