Following the recent controversy surrounding his actions at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, the Federal Government has revealed intentions to commission Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, often known as KWAM 1, as an ambassador for appropriate airport security protocol.
In a statement detailing remedies to recent instances of disruptive conduct at Nigerian airports, Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, revealed this information on Wednesday.

In addition to working with the musician to raise awareness of appropriate behaviour in the aviation industry, Keyamo stated that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority had decided to shorten KWAM 1’s flight ban to one month.

Nigeria’s Federal Airports Authority(NCAA) would take the lead in the engagement procedure.
”The NCAA is to reduce his flight ban to a one-month period. FAAN will also work with the music star with a view to engaging him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol going forward.
”Having publicly demonstrated penitence, the NCAA is also to withdraw its criminal complaints against KWAM 1 earlier lodged with the police,” the statement read.

The minister went on to say that the decision was made in response to well-intentioned pleas and KWAM 1’s public display of repentance for the August 5 incident in which he reportedly blocked the progress of a ValueJet aircraft.
Additionally, Keyamo disclosed that the NCAA would drop its criminal charges against the singer.

This comes days after the musician issued an apology to the public, claiming that the flask he was carrying on the day of the incident contained water for medical purposes rather than alcohol, as security guards had claimed.

In addition to stressing that the pardon was given on “compassionate grounds,” the minister issued a warning that the government was still dedicated to upholding safety and security regulations in the aviation industry.
Recall that KWAM 1 got into a fight with airline employees and security guards at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

He was charged with bringing a prohibited flask that was allegedly filled with alcohol, spilling its contents on staff, and then allegedly preventing the plane from taxiing by walking onto the tarmac.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority described the behaviour as a breach of aviation safety laws and first placed him on a six-month no-fly list while filing a criminal case with the police.
