FG Urged to Reverse Petrol Price Hike by Reps Minority.
The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives, led by Rep. Kingsley Chinda, condemned the recent petrol price hike announced by the NNPC, calling it ill-timed and insensitive to Nigeria’s economic struggles. The caucus argued that the increase would worsen living conditions by raising transportation and food costs, further straining the average Nigerian. They criticized the decision for lacking proper consultation with stakeholders, including the National Assembly. The caucus urged the government to reverse the price hike and instead focus on rehabilitating refineries, reducing corruption, and ensuring subsidies benefit the masses. They also warned that the increase could lead to more social unrest if not addressed.
