Kogi Kidnapping Victims Released as Terrorists Free Final Six Abductees
Terrorists have released the final six abductees who were earlier kidnapped from the Aiyetoro Kiri community in Bunu land, Kogi State. This development has brought relief to residents following weeks of anxiety linked to the Kogi kidnapping victims’ release after prolonged negotiations.

The confirmation of their release was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Aiyetoro Kiri Bunu Development Association (AKBDA). According to the group, the Kogi kidnapping victims released regained their freedom after intense discussions and the payment of ransom. The ransom amount paid was not disclosed by the association.
The association described the period of the kidnapping incident as a traumatic ordeal for the victims, their families, and the entire community. It noted that the release of the kidnapping victims marked the end of a painful chapter for Aiyetoro Kiri residents.

It will be recalled that on December 14, 2025, suspected bandits attacked a branch of the Evangelical Church Winning All in Aiyetoro Kiri community, Kabba Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State. During the attack, at least one person was killed while several parishioners were abducted, sparking widespread concern.
AKBDA disclosed that the abductees were released in batches over time. The first group of seven victims regained their freedom on January 1, 2026, followed by the release of three others on January 12, while fourteen more were freed the next day.
The final six abductees were released most recently, completing the process that led to the Kogi kidnapping victims being released from captivity. The community has since begun efforts to return to normalcy after the incident.

The association expressed deep gratitude to God for the safe return of all the victims. It also thanked families, community members, and well-wishers for their support and resilience throughout the difficult period surrounding the release of the Kogi kidnapping victims.
