Bashir Ahmad has hailed the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the largest political party in Africa due to Fintiri’s defection.
Ahmad made the remark in response to the defection of Ahmadu Fintiri to the APC.
In a post on X, he noted that with Fintiri’s defection, the party now controls 30 out of Nigeria’s 36 governorships.
He wrote: “With Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu, formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party now boasts 30 out of the 36 governors in the federation, firmly cementing its position as the largest political party in Africa.”
He had announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to APC in a statewide broadcast on Friday.
The governor defected alongside his entire cabinet and all PDP officials.
According to the governor, his action was for the developmental interest of the people of Adamawa State.
