Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule has stated that APC governors are not losing sleep or worried over the impeachment process initiated against Siminalayi Fubara, Rivers governor.
Governor Sule made these remarks during a Thursday appearance on “Politics Today” on Channels Television.
Sule stated that the procedure was fully governed by the law when asked if the governors were concerned about the scheme to remove Fubara.

The governor of Nasarawa also stated that due process is a need for impeachment.

“I’m not worried because I think it’s an issue of the court. I am not worried about anybody impeaching anyone,” he said.
“You don’t just wake up and impeach somebody without going through the due process.
“Of course, whatever happens to any of our colleagues, we are worried, but we are not so worried to the point of saying he [Fubara] is going to be impeached.”

Sule pointed out that the issue was already being addressed by court decisions and the top judge’s activities.
He further stated that the APC, not the Progressive Governors’ Forum, should handle internal party disputes in Rivers.
“Members of the national working committee were there during the meeting, and they were asked to investigate what is happening there. If they need our input anywhere, they can confirm. But it’s not something for the progressive governors; it’s a party affair.”
His comments coincide with the fact that legal and procedural roadblocks continue to impede the most recent attempt to remove Fubara from office.

Recall that a Rivers high court ruled on January 23 that the court of appeals must first handle outstanding petitions filed by the speaker and other lawmakers, therefore postponing the matter indefinitely.
The verdict effectively terminated the impeachment proceedings.
Similarly, Rivers Chief Judge Simeon Amadi declined to form an investigating panel, citing current court orders and the idea that courts shouldn’t take action on cases that are already under judicial scrutiny.

This is the third attempt to remove Fubara from office in less than three years. The latest effort, led by Martins Amaewhule, speaker of the Rivers house of assembly, began on January 8.

The action has been largely seen as a component of the continuing political rivalry between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
However, the Rivers house of assembly has repeatedly disputed the claims.
