Popular Nigerian actress and movie producer Funke Akindele has once again made history with her latest movie, Behind the Scenes, which just crossed the one billion naira mark two weeks after its release.
This milestone was announced by the movie’s distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, which praised the amazing performance of the movie, describing it as a historic feat in the history of Nollywood and in West Africa.
According to reports, it broke five opening-weekend records, including the highest single-day gross ever recorded on Boxing Day, pulling in ₦129.5 million in one day.
Akindele was ecstatic about the milestone as she took to her Instagram to express her gratitude to both God and her fans.
She said, “Over the years, I’ve always valued my fans, because without God and you, I am nobody.”
“Thank you all for coming out to watch this movie and for supporting my brand through the years.”
She further expressed her appreciation to the distributors, cast, crew, and her fellow colleagues who came out to support her.
“Thank you to the distributors and my colleagues, especially those not in the movie who still came out to meet and greet my fans. Big love to the cast and crew. This is only the beginning; let’s take BEHIND THE SCENES even further,” she said.
