Governor Mutfwang of Plateau State, has stated that he is under intense pressure from political elites to switch from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Mutfwang revealed this information over the weekend during a gathering at Jos’s Government House Banquet Hall.
The governor acknowledged his choice to stay in the PDP, emphasising that his political path can only be decided by God and the voters who put him in office.

“It is true that they have been putting pressure on me.
“But I told them that only two people can authorise me to change my party — one is the God of heaven, and the other is you, the people,” he said.
This development comes only a few weeks after Plateau-based APC leaders took action to prevent Mutfwang from joining the party.

During a recent stakeholders’ meeting in Jos, the APC leaders overwhelmingly supported a motion aimed at preventing Mutfwang from joining the party.
The motion was reportedly moved by Festus Fuanter, former Deputy National Secretary of the APC.
“We don’t want anybody coming to our party. You do your thing, and we’ll do ours,” Fuanter said at the meeting.

He added that the party was confident of its strength ahead of the 2027 general elections and did not need external reinforcement.
Mutfwang had responded to the situation by claiming that people who rejected his alleged defection were acting fearfully.
