Gunmen have launched an attack on Ochia Community in Ohaji/Egbema Local govt area in Imo State, killing 5 persons.
The victim, Paulinus Ekwueme, is the traditional ruler of Ochia Community in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of the state.
The gunmen also killed five other individuals, yet to be identified during the attack.
The Imo State police spokesperson Henry Okoye said in a statement that the gunmen killed the victims when they invaded the community on Friday afternoon.

Mr Okoye, stated that police authorities received a distress report from Ohaji Police Division at about 4:30 p.m., indicating that the community was under attack.
He also said the state Commissioner of Police , Audu Bosso, quickly deployed tactical units officers with available operational assets to the area.
Mr Okoye also added that the police had begun “comprehensive investigation” into the incident whilst intensive operations are ongoing to track down the attackers.

He said “Adequate security measures have also been emplaced to forestall any future occurrence of such a tragic incident in the area and its environs,”
The commissioner expressed sympathy to the family of the late traditional ruler and other victims who had passed away, promising that police officers would protect locals and find the thugs.
He also asked the locals to assist the ongoing investigation by reporting suspicious people or movements to the police so they can take appropriate action.
