President Bola Tinubu’s special adviser on policy communication, Daniel Bwala, has repeatedly denied making disparaging remarks about the president in the past.

Bwala once again denied the allegations while making an appearance on Mehdi Hasan’s “Head to Head” show on Al Jazeera.

In the episode examining Tinubu’s administration under the theme “Nigeria: ‘Renewed Hope’ or ‘Hopelessness’?”, Hasan confronted Bwala with old quotes, clips, and statements from his time as an opposition figure aligned with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s campaign.

When the programme host referenced Daniel Bwala’s  previous claims from January 22, 2023, that Tinubu created a militia to influence the election corruptly, he denied making the remark.

“You said Tinubu started a militia to sway the election corruptly,” Hasan put to Bwala.

“Tinubu didn’t create a militia, and I never said that,” he responded.

Additionally, Hasan brought up Daniel Bwala’s previous statement of questionable cash transfers into Tinubu’s home during an election, to which he once more retorted, “I never said that.”

Videos of him saying that Tinubu or members of his team had threatened him, that Tinubu bought his election results, including references to intimidation after criticising the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate at the time, went viral on social media.

When questioned, Bwala stated, “I never said that,” denying ever making such assertions.
