The President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, Dr. Haruna Nma Yahaya, has announced plans to set up a special student centre in Minna, Niger State, to promote accounting careers among youths in the North Central zone.

Yahaya stated this during a visit with his delegation to Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago in Minna, adding that the centre will be named after the governor.

He explained that the initiative aims to inspire young people in the zone to pursue accountancy professions and further develop the region’s accounting talent pool.

He also acknowledged the governor for his foresight in appointing ICAN members to his government, while assuring him of their continued support.

According to him, “The current rating of Niger State as third in ICAN’s accountability index shows the level of transparency of governor Umaru Bago.”

“I want to reassure you of my continued support and promise to support ICAN members from the State, as well as attend ICAN Conference slated for October this year in Abuja,” he added.
