The Igbo National Council (INC) has launched a political movement aimed at promoting stronger political participation for the South-East region and securing key positions in Nigeria’s political landscape.
During the official unveiling of the movement’s members referred to as the State Political Committee (SPC) in Owerri, Imo State, INC Chairman Mazi Nnamdi Aguguo stated that the committee is tasked with advancing the political ambitions of INC members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He noted that while the ethnic group makes up over 32.8 percent of Nigeria’s population, the South-East has yet to fully translate this numerical strength into political influence.
