The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has completed preparations for the successful conduct of the upcoming Kano State House of Assembly by-elections in the Kano Municipal and Ungogo Local Government state constituencies.

The by-elections became necessary following the death of the two lawmakers who previously represented the constituencies, leaving vacant seats in the state legislature.
Speaking on the exercise, the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ambassador Abdullahi Zango, disclosed that more than ten political parties have indicated interest in participating in the elections.

He assured that INEC was fully prepared for the polls, with arrangements in top gear to guarantee a smooth, credible, and hitch-free election.
Zango urged eligible voters to turn out en masse on the election day, assuring them of a level-playing field for all the contestants.
The by-elections are aimed at restoring equitable representation in the assembly and strengthening grassroots democratic governance.
