Maazi Tochukwu Ezeoke, the leader of the Village Boys Movement has stated that the organization will only back Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election, stating that the movement’s political involvement is based solely on Obi’s expected inclusion on the ballot.
In an exclusive interview with Rudolf Okonkwo on the premier web program 90MinutesAfrica, he said that the Village Boys Movement is not a traditional political campaign but rather a grassroots awakening among Nigerian young.

“The Village Boys Movement is working on the premise of the statement by Peter Obi that he will be on the ballot in the 2027 elections,” Ezeoke said. “So it is either Peter Obi or nothing else for us.”
He clarified that the campaign started out covertly “across social media platforms, university campuses, marketplaces, technology hubs and community gatherings” before progressively expanding throughout the nation’s towns and regions.

“Our goal is to mobilize Nigerians to make the right choice in the 2027 elections,” he said. “We are telling Nigerians to consider their lives and decide if the government has kept to its promise of renewed hope or if they have been sunk into hopelessness.”

He further underlined that the movement is promoting democratic engagement rather than imposing political choices on voters.
