The African Democratic Congress(ADC), has reaffirmed its dedication to increasing women’s involvement in Nigerian politics and government.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Secretary of ADC, announced this on Sunday in a statement posted on his official X Twitter in honour of International Women’s Day.

The party said its constitution reserves 40 percent of all party positions at every level for women, making it one of the few political parties in the country with a clear framework aimed at promoting female inclusion in leadership.
According to Abdullahi, the party is still dedicated to creating a political culture that empowers and encourages women to take on leadership roles and actively influence Nigeria’s political and governance environment.

The post read: “On this commemoration of #WomensDay, as the only political party in Nigeria whose constitution reserves 40% of all party positions at all levels to women, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) reaffirms our commitment to building a political culture where women can lead and participate fully in shaping our politics and governance.”
Additionally, the ADC spokesperson urged more Nigerian women to join the party and support initiatives to create a more inclusive political system in the nation.

Increasing women’s involvement in politics is still essential to bolstering democracy and guaranteeing equitable representation in government, Abdullahi continued.
