A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has urged President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene in the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.

Reports indicate that the crisis, triggered by renewed tensions between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, intensified on Thursday as members of the State House of Assembly began impeachment proceedings against the governor and his deputy.

Reacting to the development, Joe Igbokwe, in a Facebook post, condemned the impeachment move, stating that he would not support it under any circumstances.
He wrote, “I will not support the impeachment of Governor Fubara for any reason whatsoever.
“PBAT should intervene to stop the distractions in the oil rich state. The State has been in the news for the wrong reasons”.
It was reported that President Tinubu had, on two occasions, intervened in the endless crisis.
