The United States military has reportedly delivered essential supplies to Nigeria in Abuja, weeks after President Trump approved a military strike in Sokoto targeted at Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists.
The US stated that the military equipment supply to Nigeria is a part of the two nations’ cooperative security collaboration.
The US Africa Command, through its X (formerly Twitter) account, wrote, “U.S. forces delivered critical military supplies to our Nigerian partners in Abuja. This delivery supports Nigeria’s ongoing operations and emphasizes our shared security partnership.”
Additionally, News Region learnt that the US State Department authorised the sale of ammunition, precision bombs, and precision rockets to Nigeria in August 2025 at an estimated cost of $346 million, or almost N532 billion.
According to the Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), it has already sent the necessary certification alerting the US Congress to the potential sale.
“The State Department has made a determination approving a possible foreign military sale to the Government of Nigeria of munitions, precision bombs, and precision rockets and related equipment for an estimated cost of $346 million.
“The Defence Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today (Wednesday),” a statement said.
Armed banditry, Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) insurgencies in the Northeast, farmer-herder conflicts in the Middle Belt, separatist agitations in the South-East, militancy and oil theft in the Niger Delta, and an increase in urban crime are all current issues affecting Nigeria.
