The Kebbi State Government has set up a special committee to investigate the death of two children at General Hospital, Zuru.
This was made known in a statement issued on Thursday by Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Kebbi state governor.
Governor Nasir Idris approved the formation of the committee to probe the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the two children, who were reportedly from the same family.
According to the statement, the committee is chaired by the Commissioner for Information, Yakubu Ahmed, while the Commissioners for Health and Establishment, Sama’ila Augie and Manu Dogondaji, will serve as members.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Zaki Abubakar Zaki, will act as the secretary of the panel.
The committee has been tasked with investigating both the immediate and underlying causes of the incident, including claims that the children may have received a wrong injection.
It will also identify those involved, establish accountability where necessary, and recommend measures to prevent a similar occurrence in the future.
The panel has been given one week to submit its findings and has been directed to begin work immediately.
