Hon. Engr. Sagir Ibrahim Koki, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources and Member representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, has resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

He cited ongoing leadership crises at the party’s national level as his reason for stepping down.
In a resignation letter dated November 11, 2025, addressed to the Zaitawa Ward Chairperson, Koki explained that the persistent internal conflicts at the party’s center have made it difficult, if not impossible, for him to provide effective representation to his constituents.
“I have taken this decision because the internal crisis in the party leadership at the centre has made it difficult, if not impossible, for me to continue discharging my duties and provide my people with the desired representation in the House of Representatives,” Koki wrote.

He thanked the NNPP for providing him with a platform to serve.
He described the experience as invaluable and noted that his resignation aligns with Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution and the party’s constitution.
Koki’s departure comes just two days after Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, left the NNPP to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
