Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the son of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s 2023 presidential contender, has resigned from his position as Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development.
In a message released on his official Facebook page on Monday, Kwankwaso declared his resignation as a State Executive Council member.
He thanked Governor Abba Yusuf for giving him the chance to work in the administration.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and member of the Kano State Executive Council,” the statement read.
He thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in him, noting that his time in office provided him with valuable experiences and lessons while serving the people of the state.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the great people of Kano State. I have cherished the experiences and lessons gained while serving, and I appreciate the trust placed in me,” he said.

Kwankwaso emphasised the necessity for ongoing investment in youth empowerment and sports development and expressed hope that the youth and sports sectors would continue to receive sufficient attention under the current administration.
He concluded by offering prayers for the state and its leadership.

“May Allah (SWT) continue to shower His blessings on our beloved Kano State. I wish the government and people of Kano State all the best,” the statement said.
Following Governor Yusuf’s recent departure from the NNPP, the resignation coincides with current political realignments inside the Kano State Government.
