According to a press statement issued by Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, these laws are designed to revolutionize Jigawa’s agricultural and livestock sectors, ushering in a new era of innovation, increased productivity, and sustainable economic growth.

He explained that the first law is the Executive Order establishing the Ministry of Livestock Development, a strategic move designed to harness Jigawa’s giant potential in the livestock sector.

He also signed the Jigawa Agricultural Transformation Service (JATS) Law 2025, which establishes an agency to drive the state’s agricultural industrialization agenda.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Malam Umar Namadi described the new ministry and agency as part of his administration’s commitment to improving agriculture in line with his 12-point agenda.

According to Malam Umar Namadi, “the new ministry is quite an important ministry,” noting that “we have one of the largest livestock markets in Africa.”

“JATS was born out of our desire to transform agricultural properties. This agency is going to drive all of our agricultural transformation activities and will serve as a model, not only in Jigawa and northern Nigeria, but in Nigeria as a whole.”
