    Domestic violence: man on the run after stabbing wife to death

    A devastating incident occurred in the Agbure community, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State, where a 36-year-old woman, Josephine Isaac, was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband, Oju, during a violent altercation.

    According to the Ogun State Police Command, the suspect, who hails from Calabar, Cross River State, is currently at on the run. The police were notified of the incident by Josephine’s younger sister, Blessing Isaac, who reported the case at the Abigi Divisional Police Headquarters.

    Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple’s dispute escalated into physical violence, resulting in the suspect allegedly stabbing Josephine multiple times in the neck and chest with a knife.

    Realising the severity of the injuries, the suspect fled the scene, abandoning his wife, who was later pronounced dead at Ibiade General Hospital.

    The police have condemned the incident, emphasizing the importance of peaceful conflict resolution and urging members of the public to report cases of domestic abuse.

    Reports say that a  manhunt has been launched for the suspect, and residents with vital information on his whereabouts are encouraged to come forward.

    The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
