Many persons have been killed and several others are missing following a deadly attack launched by suspected herdsmen on Ojantele, a community along the Abuja-Otukpo road, Benue State.
According to the sources, the gunmen invaded the neighbourhood on Friday and started shooting at locals, killing over 20 people and left numerous more unaccounted for.

Adams Ogwola, the chairman of Apa LGA, acknowledged the attack on Friday afternoon but stated that they were unable to determine the exact number of casualties at this time.
He said, “Yes, there was an attack on Ojatele community in Apa Local Government, but I was not around in the local government area. I was away for an official journey.

“However, my attention has been drawn to the incident. You can call me by tomorrow evening, then, I can have enough information for you. So, for now I can’t speak further, thanks”, he said.

Attempts to contact the Benue state command’s spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, were unsuccessful as her cell phone calls were not answered at the time of this report.
