Marafa’s Ally Clinches NDC Chairmanship in Zamfara in Strategic Power Move

The Zamfara State chapter of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has elected a new Executive Committee (EXCO) to steer the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The new leadership was chosen during a state delegates’ congress held in Gusau, the state capital, with a large turnout of delegates, party leaders, elders, and other stakeholders.

The exercise was conducted in an orderly and peaceful manner, with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security personnel present to monitor proceedings and ensure transparency.

At the end of the congress, Surajo Garba Mai Katako, a close associate of Kabiru Garba Marafa, emerged as the state chairman of the party.

Sources within the party revealed that the NDC has seen a surge in membership across all 14 local government areas of Zamfara State, largely following Marafa’s defection to the party.

Marafa, who previously represented Zamfara Central in the Senate, is regarded as a significant figure driving the NDC party’s rising influence in the state as preparations for the next election cycle intensify.
