Eedie Bliss regained her freedom on Saturday, January 17, 2026, after Mercy Johnson withdrew all charges against her amid intense public backlash across social media.

The development followed criticism from outspoken social media commentator VeryDarkMan, who accused the actress of oppression and argued that defamation is a civil matter, not a criminal offence.

Joining other Nigerians in seeking her release from police detention, VeryDarkMan issued an ultimatum to the actress.

A few hours later, VeryDarkMan announced the TikTok creator’s release.

He wrote on his Instagram page: “@MercyJohnsonOkojie, thank you very much, my GREATEST OF ALL TIME, for dropping the case. Moving on, I am buying all defamation cases against Mercy Johnson and her family. The bullying is too much. You all should leave her family alone.”

It was reported that Eedie Bliss was arrested some days ago over a video she shared on TikTok in December 2025 about Mercy Johnson and her husband, Prince Henry Okojie.

In the video, the TikTok star alleged that Prince Okojie recently bought a house for his pregnant mistress.

Quoting Cutie Juls as her source, Eedie Bliss further claimed that the actress allegedly connived with the mistress’ house help to cause her miscarriage.
