The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd), has said Nigeria can only defeat insecurity nationwide if citizens unite as one family to rid the country of all negative forces.

The minister of defence stressed the importance of justice, noting that it is essential for progress and sustainable development in every community.
Speaking at the 2025 At Yap buffet organised in his honour, the minister of defence said his primary responsibility is to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity. He noted that many communities in Kaduna State and the wider North-West region have endured serious challenges, adding that these issues must be urgently tackled to allow Nigerians to carry out their lawful activities, improve their living standards and build a better society.
He added that mistakes have been made in the past, assuring that from now onwards, they are determined to make peace in the interest of all in society.
The minister stated that the days of threats to the lives of Nigerians are over, pointing out that the enemies of the state are not sleeping and will not rest until they are completely dealt with.
He thanked traditional rulers, religious leaders and the people for their resilience in standing against all forms of evil in society, saying that Nigerians should learn to forgive one another for the progress and development of the country.

Governor Uba Sani, represented by Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarebe, stated that the Minister of Defence has chosen the path of hard work and discipline to rise to the position he now occupies.
She said that Kaduna State believed in him to succeed in the present assignment given by President Bola Tinubu and prayed for God’s wisdom to enable him to carry out the tasks ahead.
The paramount ruler of At Yap Chiefdom, Sir Dominic Yahaya, called for peaceful coexistence in the area, in Kaduna State and across the country, advising that Nigerians should be their brother’s keepers in all spheres of life.
