Several people have been injured after multiple explosions rocked Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, on Monday.
According to our correspondent, the bombs went off simultaneously on Monday at around 7:02 p.m.
Mohammed Kafaran, the Federal Fire Service‘s Head of Operations in Borno State, confirmed the occurrence to our correspondent and stated that the service has sent a team to the scene.

He said, “Yes, there was a bomb explosion at the Monday Market area around Elkanemi. We have deployed our team there to assess the situation. We will get back to you shortly.”
Many of the injured people have been transported to hospitals for treatment, according to eyewitnesses who spoke with PUNCH Online.

The moment of the explosion was described by another resident, who wished to remain anonymous.
“I had just left the post office and was on my way when I heard a loud sound,” the resident said.

Further details are expected as emergency responders continue rescue and assessment operations at the affected locations.

Following the bomb explosions that simultaneously shook three parts of Maiduguri, Borno State, on Monday, 23 people have been confirmed dead and 108 have been injured to varied degrees.
Meanwhile, former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has expressed grief over the incident.
Kwankwaso, in a statement on Tuesday, described the attacks as horrific and a setback to the peace recorded in the state in recent years.
