During the prayers, they offered supplications for peace and progress in the country, especially amid ongoing challenges.

Eid-el-Fitr, commonly known as the “festival of breaking the fast,” signifies the conclusion of the month-long period of fasting observed during Ramadan.

At the Uzoigwe prayer ground, the Chief Imam of Yoruba Central Mosque, Asaba, Alhaji Adams Ayakunu, urged Nigerians to uphold the values of love, compassion, and charity, particularly towards the less privileged.

Other religious leaders also stressed the need to sustain the virtues developed during Ramadan, encouraging Muslims to continue showing empathy and kindness even after the fasting period.

“The essence of Eid al-Fitr lies in the renewal of faith, the expression of gratitude, and the strengthening of bonds within the Muslim community,” he said.

The Muslims also prayed for the peace and development of Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Delta State Governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Hon. Dennis Guwor, have extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.

Oborevwori, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, congratulated Muslims for their devotion, sacrifice, and commitment to the spiritual values of Islam, as demonstrated during the period of fasting and prayer.

The Delta governor noted that Ramadan represents a period of deep reflection, self-discipline, compassion, and renewed faith, urging Muslims to sustain these virtues beyond the holy month for the overall good of society.

He emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence, unity, and tolerance among people of different religious and ethnic backgrounds.

The governor also called on Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the continued peace, stability, and progress of the nation, stressing that collective efforts and mutual understanding remain key to overcoming current socio-economic challenges.

While wishing Muslims a joyous and peaceful Eid celebration, Oborevwori assured Deltans of his administration’s unwavering commitment to inclusive governance, infrastructural development, and the overall well-being of all citizens, in line with his M.O.R.E Agenda.

He further urged residents to celebrate responsibly and continue to support government efforts aimed at building a stronger, secure, and more prosperous Delta State.

Again, Hon. Dennis Guwor called for compassion, unity, and a renewed focus on human development.

Felicitating with Muslims in Nigeria on the celebration, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly said, “Eid-el-Fitr reminds us of the profound values of empathy, kindness, and generosity towards others.”

In a statement made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Nkem Nwaeke, he prayed that the spirit of Eid inspires compassion, understanding, and a more just and harmonious Nigeria.

He also prayed that Almighty Allah accepts the prayers and sacrifices of the faithful, forgives all shortcomings, and blesses the nation with enduring peace, progress, and prosperity.

“On behalf of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, I warmly felicitate with the Muslim Ummah across our dear country on the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan,” Guwor said.
