The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under the joint task force of Operation HADIN KAI, has recorded another success operation following a coordinated air strike on a terrorists’ camp at Abbaga Jiri, within the Timbuktu Triangle of Borno State.
On Saturday, January 10, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, stated that the operation was conducted after multiple sources of intelligence verified the existence of active terrorists, buildings, and covert logistics facilities in the region.
He claims that NAF air assets were then used for precision air strike and integrated surveillance missions, which allowed the force to precisely engage the targets in Borno.
“The operation was deliberately designed to degrade terrorist capability, deny sanctuary, and shape the battlespace for ground forces, in strict adherence to established rules of engagement and the protection of non-combatants,” the statement said.
According to Ejodame, important terrorist buildings were destroyed as a result of the airstrikes, and armed personnel that had been seen gathering at the site following the initial hit were neutralised in a subsequent confrontation.
Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), commented on the operation, saying that the mission’s success demonstrated the NAF’s resolve to control the airspace in support of joint operations.
