The Federal Government, through the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has summoned all domestic airlines to a crucial meeting in Abuja following a series of recent flight disruptions and incidents involving unruly passenger behavior.

In an update shared via his official X handle on Tuesday, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, announced that the meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at the NCAA headquarters.
The aviation sector has recently faced growing public concern due to an increase in passenger misconduct and operational challenges, according to reports from various industry observers.
“The NCAA has invited all domestic airlines to a meeting in Abuja slated for tomorrow, Wednesday,” Achimugu said.

He disclosed that NCAA would address unruly passenger behaviour and passenger handling protocols, unresolved refund/compensation issues, amongst others.
The summon is coming barely 24 hours after Achimugu said the regulatory authority had the mandate of the Federal Government to begin naming and shaming airlines that delay and cancel flights.
In a post on X on Monday, the NCAA boss announced that airlines would be sanctioned for flight disruptions.
