The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for internal candidates.

Announcing the NECO results, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, revealed that a total of 1,367,210 candidates registered for the exams, comprising 685,514 males and 681,696 females. Of this number, 1,358,339 candidates participated in the examination.
Professor Wushishi stated that 818,492 candidates, representing 60.26%, obtained five credits and above, including Mathematics and English. Additionally, 1,144,496 candidates—84.26%—earned five credits and above in all subjects, regardless of Mathematics and English.
He disclosed that the NECO results from eight schools in Lamorde Local Government Area of Adamawa State were withheld due to a communal clash that disrupted the exams between July 7 and 25, 2025. Thirteen subjects and 29 papers were affected. Wushishi said the council was already in talks with the government to reschedule the exams for students in the affected schools.

The Registrar also revealed that 38 schools across 13 states were found to have engaged in mass cheating. “They will be invited to the Council Headquarters before appropriate sanctions are applied,” he said.
In addition, nine supervisors were recommended for blacklisting over various offences. These include three each from Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, and one each from Niger, Kano, and Osun States.
Their offences ranged from poor supervision and aiding malpractice to lateness, unruly behavior, assault, and insubordination.
