The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Ogun State Chapter, has announced the passing of Nollywood actress Atinuke Kareem following a battle with breast cancer.
Her colleague and Executive Governor of TAMPAN Ogun State, Owolabi Ajasa, formally confirmed her death in a message posted to his Instagram page on Tuesday.
The announcement was accompanied by a short video clip featuring Kareem appealing for prayers and financial assistance during her illness, highlighting the physical toll of her fight against the disease.
“I’m a breast cancer patient. It has been going on for a while. My family has spent a lot of money; I’ve come to seek help. The association I belong to, TAMPAN, has tried too, but it’s not enough,” Kareem said in the video.
“Don’t allow me to die this way; I have two young children. Nigerians, please help me with any amount you can use to help.”
In a statement issued by State Public Relations Officer Femi Solaja on behalf of Owolabi Ajasa, the organization expressed profound gratitude to colleagues, fans, and well-wishers who provided financial and emotional support throughout the actress’s illness.
“We sincerely appreciate everyone who contributed financially, offered prayers, encouragement, and support towards the treatment of our dear colleague, Atinuke Remilekun Kareem,” the statement read.
TAMPAN also conveyed deep sorrow over her passing, describing it as an irreparable loss that members must accept as the will of God.

Meanwhile, Atinuke Kareem’s passing comes just over a week after veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, lost his battle with stage-four cancer, throwing the Yoruba film industry into further mourning.
Earlier in August, popular Nollywood actor, Temitope Osoba passed at the age of forty. Her reported death comes after a widely publicised battle with breast cancer that inspired an outpouring of support from colleagues, fans and well-wishers across Nigeria. Join Diaspora Networks.
