Abbas Nda Mohammed has officially assumed duty as the 16th Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command.

He took over on Monday from Bala Bodinga Bawa, who has been redeployed to the NSCDC national headquarters in Abuja.
Bodinga had spent just over a month in the state before his reassignment.
Commandant Mohammed is a seasoned security officer with over 20 years of experience in the Corps, having served in various strategic roles including at Zone 4 Headquarters, Minna; Head of Operations, NSCDC Kwara State Command; Head of the Anti-Vandal Unit, Niger State Command; Area Commander, Kainji LGA; Divisional Officer, Edati LGA; Head of Counter-Terrorism Unit, Zamfara State Command; and several leadership positions in the FCT Command.
Before his deployment to Kwara, he served as Commandant at Zone 4 Headquarters in Minna.

In his remarks after taking over, the new NSCDC Commandant reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property, safeguarding critical national infrastructure, and enhancing intelligence-driven operations across Kwara State.
He warned criminals, vandals, and economic saboteurs to stay away from the state, stressing that the command would adopt proactive and decisive measures to tackle all forms of criminal activity.
“Kwara State will not be a safe haven for criminals. We are fully prepared to deploy all necessary operational strategies to ensure the safety and security of lives and property,” he stated.
He also pledged to strengthen collaboration with other security agencies, traditional rulers, and relevant stakeholders to sustain peace and security in the state.
